Adult Dance

Northamptonshire School of Dance has taught a range of adults to dance over the last 15 years, and currently we are offering weekly ballet classes. Whether you are completely new to ballet or are returning to a childhood hobby, you are very welcome to come along to our friendly lesson for the over 18s, with no upper age limit. Miss Hayley will put you through your paces at the barre and in the centre, having fun with a lovely group of ladies along the way.

If contemporary dance, tap, street or modern is more to your taste, please get in touch as we will do our best to create a class if enough people are interested.

We are accredited by the Royal Academy of Dance

Learn more about the school's principal, Natalie Carter, who was formerly a professional ballet dancer, and our other teachers on the team by reading our biographies page.

The benefits of adult ballet include:

> improved strength, stamina, control, coordination and endurance

> awareness of balance and posture

> flexibility and range of motion

> enjoyment of dancing to classical music

> self-motivation leading to self-appreciation

> making new friends and having loads of fun!

Northamptonshire School of Dance teachers offer the Royal Academy of Dance exams

We expect all ladies' hair to be neatly tied back and suitable exercise attire should be worn for all lessons, as we find this helps students get in to the right mindset for the class.

Adult Ballet is taught by Miss Hayley

Adult Dance Class Uniform

Adult dancers will prefer to wear suitable clothing to be able to move freely in, such as leggings or yoga trousers, vests or t-shirts.  Or if preferred, we have a lovely selection of leotards available to choose from.

As for footwear, we suggest socks for the first week and then ballet shoes thereafter.

We recommend that dance shoes are ordered through Northamptonshire School of Dance to ensure quality and teachers will check fittings.
